How much should I take?

As with any other food it’s up to you to judge what your body needs. This information is given for each product under the heading How much in my diet? in this website.

Why are Seagreens® used as a healthier alternative to salt?

Seagreens® Salad & Condiment and Culinary Ingredient products bring out the flavour in most foods because their own rich nutrients combine so well. Even a pinch will enhance the nutritional value of the food. TYou can see below that they contain only about 3.5% sodium against 40% in natural salt and at least 13% in artificial ‘low-sodium’ salts.

These ‘low-sodium’ salts often have increased amounts of potassium, which can be just as imbalancing for the body. Like the sea, the mineral salts in Seagreens® have a natural balance remarkably similar to human plasma. There is also evidence that seaweed helps reduce cholesterol and dissolve fats in the blood, and improve circulation.

How do Seagreens® differ from multivitamin and mineral supplements?

Seagreens® are natural, multinutrient whole foods containing all the different nutrients (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids, etc) in a natural balance impossible to replicate in a formulated nutritional supplement. Seagreens® are not formulated nutritional supplements.

In Seagreens® the amounts of each nutrient are small, mostly less than the RDA which is the Recommended Daily Amount (different names are used for this but it is an attempt to provide a measure of what an 'average' person needs of a particular nutrient on a daily basis).

Nature intends food to be absorbed little and often, rather than in large amounts. Seagreens® are not formulated like multivitamin and mineral supplements, which have arbitrary amounts of vitamins and minerals, and with few exceptions, few or no other nutrients.

Nature intends the body to have a wide range of nutrients because many different nutrients are needed by the body to properly metabolise any particular nutrient. Otherwise the nutritional profile becomes imbalanced and disease will ultimately result.

Even so-called ‘food state’ supplements are still artificial formulations which attempt to emulate the natural state in which nutrients occur in food - that is, surrounded by some though not all of the related nutrients critical to their proper metabolism in the body, or ‘bound’ to a substance which the body will recognise as food.
