Seagreens® ingredients are the finest in their category. A short presentation on your right tells you why.

Our different seaweed species in different forms are the product of more than 15 years' research and production experience, to suit a wide range of applications in food and nutrition products.

Please involve us in your proposed application as early as possible.

In complete confidence, you will have our knowledgeable advice, itself informed by years of trial and error.

Seagreens® is independently certified Nutritious Food Seaweed - the highest standard in the world - which gives you a unique level of quality assurance and consistency, analytical profiling, nutritional analysis, applied nutrition research, and international regulatory compliance.

Our customers have the option to also use our brand name to identify the ingredient in their product.

If there are ever any problems with bad press from inferior seaweeds - and there have been a number - this will protect your product and brand.

Most of our customers do identify the Seagreens® ingredient in their product, and we call them Brand Partners.

They receive valuable additional benefits on pricing, exclusivity, and marketing support.

Seagreens® are different and distinct from other seaweed ingredients which enter the human food chain.

Many produced for horticulture, animal feed or extracts, or come from artisan production, collected by hand on the shoreline.

We select and harvest at a number of very remote locations, which also ensures supply and scope.

Since 1998 we have never been unable to fulfil an order - a vital factor for sales growth of your own product.

Our whole business is administered in the interests of our customers and Partners by the Seagreens Trust.

Seagreens is the result of an Anglo-Scandinavian joint venture which began in the Trondheim archipelago in Norway in 1997.

Seagreens was set up to focus exclusively on human nutrition through food and drink ingredients and medical therapy.

A joint venture company in the Outer Hebrides followed in Scotland in 2009, and today we produce our oustanding ingredients with Production Partners in Iceland, Ireland, Norway and Scotland.

In 2010 Seagreens' founder set up the Seaweed Health Foundation, which continues to make substantial progress on Research, Standards, and Public Information - the key ingredients for a successful new industry in the British Isles and the Nordic region.

We have the resources to become one of the most important suppliers worldwide - please consider becoming a Friend of the Foundation

  • Is your ingredient Fully Traceable to the point of harvest?
  • How can I be sure you are giving me a single species?

An article published in 1955 in the magazine “Der Spiegel” (in German) has come to light. The article is about a German man in the 50's importing seaweed from Norway and selling it to bakeries for use in bread making. Mr Lienau wanted to make seaweed usable for nutrition in Germany.
