The Autism File was set up in the late 1990s about the same time as Seagreens, by two pioneers in the field, Jonathan and Polley Tommey whose teenage son Billy developed autistic spectrum disorders.
Jonathan took a degree in clinical nutrition and has since opened The Autism Clinic. Polley took on the British Government in recent years and has made The Autism File a campaigning journal for consumers and professionals alike. Their remarkable story is partly described in a new book 'Autism - a practical guide to improving your child's quality of life' (Piatkus Publishing, £12.99) and their 'media empire' now extends from the printed Autism File magazine to on-line resources, audio and video productions, and a SKY TV information channel. They are also behind The Autism Trust, set up to provide a life long safe home for autistics in the UK, USA and elsewhere.
